Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

SafeHaven's commitments on fair hiring, training and impartial service.

At SafeHaven, safety starts with respect. Our bilingual team of more than 270 people across seven provinces reflects the diversity of the communities we protect.

  • Fair hiring: we hire on merit and welcome applicants of every background, including women, Indigenous peoples, racialized people, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ people, newcomers and veterans.
  • Training: every officer receives training in cultural awareness, de-escalation and bias prevention.
  • Impartial service: our officers serve everyone with dignity regardless of origin, language, religion or identity.
  • Languages: services in English and French, and other languages as our team allows.
  • Accountability: any discriminatory conduct can be reported through our complaints procedure.
